Verse of the Sunday- on a tuesday?

I am going to challenge myself to this 90 day bible reading plan. I hope I can stick to it each day. I have to admit, I do not read the bible nearly as much as I need, yes I said need not should. Thats the thing about grace, you don’t have to do anything except believe BUT I know my life would be much easier if I would read his word more diligently and give my whole self to Jesus. That’s a hard thing to admit- gulp.

Christians are really good at “playing church”, its kind of like playing dress up for adults. We dress up on Sunday, put on our best behavior, shout a few amens and go home the same way that we woke up that very morning. It is sad and it is very, very true. Even in my own life. I am not saying that I am not a Christian, I am. What I am saying is, I have been struggling.

There is no secret to Christianity, its just faith working through grace to pardon us for all filthiness- and all undeservedly. Thats why we make it so hard. Its too simple, right?

My prayer for myself is that the Lord would re-ignite a fire in my soul for his word and to fill me with his grace and joy. I hope this 90 day reading plan is blessing and if you would like to see the plan visit this link: 90 day reading plan.

Verse of the (SUN)DAY!

Today in church we were singing a song that said,

He raised the dead, oh yes, 5000 souls he fed, oh yes! Oh oh oh what a mighty God we serve!

The bible says in Matthew:

Matthew 14:13-21 KJV

13 When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18 He said, Bring them hither to me.

19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

Looking around the sanctuary as I sang along, I realized our church held about 5000 people and then it hit me. The magnitude of what was done. He was able to feed all of those people with such a seemingly small amount of food. And we say he fed the 5000 but when you read it, he actually fed 5000 men and there were children and women beside the 5000.

Tears streamed down my face as the reality washed over me, Jesus can do anything. It’s one thing to say it, and another thing altogether to believe it.

When it becomes real- it’s truly amazing. I thank The Lord that he touched me this morning and renewed my spirit.

Verse of the (SUN)DAY!

20130707-085535.jpg

These KJV Bible verses are about patience.

Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Psalm 40:1
I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

Ecclesiastes 7:8
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

Romans 12:12
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

2 Thessalonians 3:5
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

When we face adversity, often times we go into panic mode instantly. Why? We have nothing to panic about. The Lord is with us, he’s never left us and he never will. Nothing can separate us from his love, so why do we fall apart at the first sign of trouble? Be patient! Wait on him!

Ask yourself, has he ever not shown up? Has he ever let you down? Not I, not ever. Now there has been times where I wondered when he would come and what was going on. What was the plan after all? But he was faithful and is faithful to come through for us.

I will rest in this today. I have security in him, Christ Jesus and him alone.

Verse of the (SUN)DAY!

2 Timothy 3:1-7 KJV

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I want my heart to belong totally to God. I do not want to read the Bible, go to church but never really know him… Its not good enough just to quote a few scriptures and pay your tithe. My desire is a deep burning in my soul for the return of my Lord. I know that when I go to Jesus in prayer and lay myself down, confessing my sin and unbelief, he will meet me there. If my desire is to be closer to him, he will not deny me. The day is drawing near. Heed the scripture, will you be found without the knowledge of truth? My father said to me this week, “its not too late, until its too late…” You never know when the Lord will part the eastern sky or you meet your demise. Love to all of you this Sunday.

Verse of the (SUN)DAY!

Psalm 51 KJV

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Verse of the (SUN)DAY!

Luke 11:13 KJV

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

On this Fathers Day, don’t just think about your earthly father. Remember that you have a Heavenly Father that cares for you.

Are there things in your life that you are keeping from The Lord? If so, surrender them today. He will withhold nothing from you, he’s already proven that with the gift of his own Son, Jesus.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers on earth and may you be blessed by your children and The Lord.

Here’s Jack sleeping with his earthly father. He has a great dad, full of love and grace.

Verse of the (SUN)DAY!

Hebrews 13:1-2, 5-6

1. Let brotherly love continue.

2. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

5. Let your conversation be without covetousness and be content with such as you have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

People take advantage of other people’s kindness and charity, that is no secret. But should we abandon these things just because our feelings may be hurt?

The Lord freely loves us- I wrote a out that love last week. Shouldn’t we love each other the same way?

I try to give to those who appear to be needy whenever possible. I do not want to stand before The Lord one day and have him ask me “why didn’t you help that person? I put them in your path and you turned away.”

Sure that homeless guy might go and buy liquor with my $2 or that Lady I donated clothing to, may sell them. But they may not… they might really be in need and appreciate the charity. Either way, it does not matter! That’s not what I am accountable for, only my actions or lack thereof. I hope if I ever found myself in a desperate situation that someone would give me the benefit of the doubt and reach out a helping hand.

With that being said, I don’t feel that we should allow ourselves to be taken advantage of. For example, if I see a homeless man, I buy him food or other items and take it to him instead of giving cash.

It can hurt us when we are taken advantage of and make us not want to help others in the future but please don’t allow this to harden your heart. Look at the last 2 verses of this passage, do not fear what men may do… Be content, love.

Verse of the (SUN)DAY!

Hosea 14:1-7 KJV

1. O Israel return unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

2. Take with you words, and turn to the Lord say unto him, take away all iniquity and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

3. Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

4. I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

5. I will be at the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

6. His branches shall spread and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

7. They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

This is an amazing passage in the bible. Sometimes it’s hard to live under Grace, many times I doubt the love of God and cannot see how he could love me.

But then I read this passage. A call to repentance (v1), a purge of self reliance (v2), and a total restoration (v4). God says, “I will love them freely”.

Amazing Love, it heals us and rescues us from our iniquity, from ourselves really. What Jesus has done allows us to be loved freely by God the Father.

Verse of the (SUN)DAY!

20130517-103205.jpg

Today’s verse is one of my favorite verses in the Bible!

Exodus 14:14 KJV

The Lord shall fight for you, and use shall hold your peace.

It is so simple. As believers, we can get ourselves into undesirable situations at times when we get out of the will of God. But when we realize we are stuck in that mess, we need to stop, shut up and let The Lord fight for us. He can put the wrong back to right and rescue us from ourselves if we let him.

Happy Sunday!
