Poop Belongs In The Toilet! Bummis Liners Review

Poop Belongs In The Toilet! Bummis Diaper Liners Review

What is it?

A liner used in cloth diapers to catch fecal matter in order to help prevent stains and facilitate disposal.

Features:

Soft Viscose Rayon
Biodegradable
Flushable ( in most septic systems)
Inexpensive
Pre-cut perforated sheets
100 per roll

Summary:

Bummis diaper liners are thin and allow the moisture to escape into the cloth diaper while catching the “crap”. They are easy to use and perforated to tear from the roll easily during nappy changes. You simply lay the liner inside the diaper against baby’s bottom and remove when diaper has been soiled. If only urine is present, dispose in a trash receptacle. If doody has been dropped, pick it up by the corners and flush it down the toilet where it belongs! This makes the fecal matter much easier to dispose of and saves your diapers many times from nasty stains.

We use these liners on an inconsistent basis. I have to say, when Jack poops in a liner, and I don’t have to wash out that diaper, I am a happy mama!

The only drawback is with runny poop. If the liner is too far toward the front and the poop is too runny, the product is useless. Placement is important and not for EBF babies. This product works best for babies that have started solid foods.

These are totally unnecessary but for 8.99, I find them affordably convenient! And i reccomend you give them a try if poop tends to gross you out. I give this product a 4/5.

You can buy these locally in Baton Rouge at Angel Britches.

Snuggly Baby Boutique Diapers

Snuggly Baby Boutique Diaper Review

What is it?

A cloth diaper for an infant. Specifically an AI2 (all in two- meaning 2 part system) The actual diaper I am reviewing is the one pictured above.

Features:

Affordable
Soft woven cotton outside layer
A hidden layer of PUL
Flannel snap in soaker with layer of velour
Velour inside lining
Snap closure with side hip snaps
Size large 15-30lbs

Summary:

The soft cotton outside makes this diaper pleasing to the eye and to the touch, while the hidden layer of PUL stops any liquid from getting through. This means no extra cover required for this diaper to prevent leaks. The super absorbent flannel and velour lined soaker conveniently snaps in or out to allow for a deeper clean and faster dry time. The inside of the diaper is luxurious velour and is sure to please the toughest baby critics around! The large sizing ensures a closer fit than many OS diapers requiring a snap or elastic adjustment to achieve desired sizing. At $15 this diaper is a tremendous value and affordable on most budgets. I give this diaper 5/5.

This is my second AI2 from Snuggly Baby Boutique and I have to say I have been very pleased. They fit well on my skinny but chunky thighed Jack, and have never leaked. The construction is solid and the fabrics do not seem to hold foul odors.

Both of my orders have been custom prints, and the turn around time is extremely fast. The owner of Snuggly Baby Boutique creates all of her products herself and is easily accessible by email. Diapers can be made from premie size starting at 4lbs all the way to toddler size in which the maximum is 45lbs. There are a variety of types of diapers including: fitteds, covers, AIO, AI2, pockets and more ranging in price from $15-$25. To order from Snuggly Baby Boutique visit her website by clicking HERE.

TO WIN A FREE Snuggly Baby Boutique diaper follow this blog and comment on this post with the weight of your baby and your choice of AI2, pocket or fitted. Drawing will be held Monday May 6, 2013 at 6:00PM.

The follow button is a tiny grey “+follow”. At the lower right hand side from a desktop, if you are unable to do this please contact me and I can email you a direct link. Thank you!

Below is a picture of the grey (color selected by myself) velour inside. And then of course Jack wearing his new Snuggly Baby AI2.

Cloth diapering Eww! Or Oooh! ?

Cloth diapering Eww! Or Oooh! ?

Do you think cloth diapering is gross? Or impractical? Or what about outdated?

Many crunchy mamas have cloth diapered for years and now we are starting to see the “modern” woman take notice. Cloth diapering is neither gross, impractical or outdated. There are many options for any family structure and budget. Cloth diapering saves a family approximately $1500 over 2 years versus buying disposables. This is of course an estimate, some families will spend more than $2000 on disposables and some will spend less.

Needless to say Jacks crunchy mama cloth diapers. We have quite an array of fabrics, styles and accessories in his CD (cloth diaper not compact disc) wardrobe.

Why I love CD’s:

Saves me a ton of $$$!
Free of harsh chemicals that many disposables contain
Great for the environment
Can be used from child to child in years to come
Cute!
Wait did I say cute, Cute, CUTE! ?!

Go to a local CDing store and get your hands on them! Play and see which would work best for your family. The modern CD goes onto the baby like a disposable and comes off the same way! It’s not complicated or tricky for the most part. Not all CD’s are created equally- in this case you usually get what you pay for… For my local Baton Rouge followers Angel Britches is the best local option for you.

Ok so there is another side to this whole cloth diaper thing! You do have to wash poop out of them. Here’s the skinny on washing CD’s.

1. Only use a CD approved detergent and then use it on all laundry to avoid mixing.

2. Get a diaper sprayer!!! Makes life so much easier to get the poop out of diapers and inserts. But watch the water pressure and make sure to get down low to the toilet to avoid a poo-shower of sorts.

3. Wash according to manufacturers directions! It’s best to hang dry but I use the dryer for everything in this house.

4. Remember it’s not a big deal if you touch a little pee or poop- this child used to do all those things inside you before birth.

I will be doing a review soon for Snuggly Baby boutique diapers and also BottomBumpers. Be on the look out for those!
